Guide to renting

 

 

Renting a property offers the ultimate in flexibility.

It is a great way to immerse yourself in an area or be close to work without the financial and location commitment to buying.

Tenants are more protected than ever with a raft of legislation and rental properties in central London offer exceptional standards of living.  As a result we are seeing more and more people, including families choosing long term tenancies over property purchase. 

It is a good idea, in these times of stringent lending, to ask to see your landlord’s consent to let from any mortgage lender.

Rental values in London are quoted per week and then calculated as monthly (£per week x 52 / 12).

 

 

 

Make sure your agent is accredited by ARLA (Association of Regulated Lettings Agents) this will ensure that they are covered by the Client Money Protection scheme, have professional indemnity insurance and that the individual agent is professionally qualified and follows a Code of Practice and Rules of Conduct.  

Renting from an ARLA accredited agent means you have a route to redress anything that might go wrong.
